TEACHER BIO

Cameron Spowart is a professional musician and experienced music teacher with a lifelong passion for performing, creating and sharing music with others.

Music has been part of Cameron’s life from the very beginning. Growing up in a musical family, with a trombone-playing father and a mother who sang, he was surrounded by music from an early age.

At eight, he became a Music Scholar at Windsor Castle, performing daily as a chorister for the Royal Family until the age of thirteen. During his younger years, he also played French horn with the National Youth Orchestra and was awarded further music scholarships to Uppingham School.

His studies have given him a broad musical background extending well beyond his main instrument, the piano. Cameron holds a BA (Hons) in Sound and Music Technology from the University of Plymouth, an MMus in Piano Performance from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a PGCE in Secondary Music Education from the University of Greenwich.

From 2017 to 2021, Cameron was Head of Music at the British School of Tashkent, where he taught and supported young musicians of different ages, abilities and musical interests. After returning to England, he established his own private music business, bringing together music education, performance, composition and production.

As a teacher, Cameron believes that every student is different. Some want to work towards graded examinations, some have ambitions to pursue music more seriously, while others simply want to experience the enjoyment and confidence that comes from making music. His approach is supportive, flexible and tailored to the individual, while encouraging strong technique, musical understanding, creativity and independence.

Above all, Cameron wants his students to develop a genuine and lasting love of music. Whether teaching a young beginner, helping a teenager prepare for an examination or working with an adult returning to music after many years, his aim is to create lessons that are enjoyable, encouraging and inspiring — while helping each student become the best musician they can be.
